One of over 700 Paramount productions, filmed between 1929 and 1949, which were sold to MCA/Universal in 1958 for television distribution, and have been owned and controlled by Universal ever since.

According to the press book, when director Alexander Hall went to the exclusive Coronado Island Hotel beach to film location scenes, Groucho Marx, Charles Ruggles and sugar heiress error were there already, and they became extras in the background of the scene. However, no footage of them remains in the film.
