The Adventures of Robin Hood Overview:

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) was a Action - Adventure Film directed by Michael Curtiz and William Keighley and produced by Hal B. Wallis, Henry Blanke and Jack L. Warner.

SYNOPSIS

Arguably Flynn's greatest role, this is the swashbuckling spectacle about the infamous outlaw and his band of merry men who "robbed from the rich and gave to the poor." Robin Hood fights for justice against the evil Sir Guy of Gisbourne, while striving to win the hand of the beautiful Maid Marian. A rollicking adventure never outdone by remakes, this epic features great swordplay, music, characters, and storybook. Shot in glorious Technicolor.

The Adventures of Robin Hood was Errol Flynn's first film in Technicolor.

The preview audience reaction was so positive that the film was released without any alterations to the plot.

James Cagney was originally cast as Robin Hood, but walked out on his contract with Warner brothers, paving the way for Errol Flynn, although filming was postponed three years.
