Lured Overview:

Lured (1947) was a Crime - Film Noir Film directed by Douglas Sirk and produced by Hunt Stromberg and Henry S. Kesler .

SYNOPSIS

An early Hollywood outing for Sirk and an interesting non-comedy role for Ball. The mystery begins with a young taxi dancer in London (Ball) whose friend is murdered by a madman who leaves notes for the police written in poetry. After turning up false leads (including an appearance by Karloff), Ball agrees to act as a lure for the police and answers a newspaper ad taken out by the murderer. Her boyfriend, Sanders, is a nightclub owner who has a partner, Hardwicke, who begins to behave rather oddly. A tight, no-nonsense thriller.

The title was changed to "Personal Column" midway through the original U.S. theatrical release because staff at the Production Code Administration thought the word "lured" sounded too much like "lurid".
