The Fugitive Overview:

The Fugitive (1947) was a Drama - Black-and-white Film directed by John Ford and Emilio Fernández (uncredited) and produced by John Ford, Merian C. Cooper and Emilio Fernández.

SYNOPSIS

Fonda gives one of his greatest performances as a Catholic priest who finds himself pursued by the military when his Latin American country outlaws religion. His faith and loyalty compel him to remain with the peasants he ministers to even as the new government forces him to become a fugitive. Ford considered it one of his best works, and the critics of the time compared it favorably to The Informer, but it undeservedly receives far less notice today. Based on Greene's novel The Power and the Glory.
