Some cast members in studio records/casting call lists did not appear or were not identifiable in the movie . These were (with their character names, if any): Leona Roberts (Laura McCoy), Mickey Rentschler (Jim McCoy), Charles Williams (Brady), Charles Sullivan (Chief timekeeper), Roger Moore (Cain's chauffeur), Lee Phelps (Bartender), Jack Pennick and Joe Caits. Leona Roberts was apparently replaced by Emma Dunn, who was listed in a news report as a cast member.
Victor Fleming directed two retake scenes in July 1938 because Richard Thorpe already had been assigned to direct another production.
Oliver T. Marsh was listed as the photographer in production charts at the start of the film, but only John F. Seitz is credited onscreen and in reviews.
