Song Without End (1960) was a Biographical - Drama Film directed by Charles Vidor and George Cukor (uncredited) and produced by William Goetz.

SYNOPSIS

Here is the romantic story of Hungarian pianist Franz Liszt (Bogarde), the troubled virtuoso whose scandalous affair with a married countess (Capucine) led to his work as a composer and his eventual seclusion in the Church. On a concert tour, he meets Capucine and she encourages him to focus on his composing rather than his piano playing. When they fall in love, she requests an annulment of her marriage. When the annulment gets rescinded, the princess refuses to live out of wedlock and Bogarde takes holy orders. Begun by Vidor but, upon his death during production, Cukor finished the film.

Cinematographer James Wong Howe was taken off the picture and replaced by Charles Lang.
Director George Cukor thought Patricia Morison's voice as George Sand was too feminine, so he had it dubbed (by Anna Lee).
Charles Vidor had completed about 15 percent of the picture when he died on 4 June 1959. He was replaced by George Cukor.
