Although this film was produced in two-strip Technicolor, all existing prints are black-and-white.
The first full-length sound motion picture produced entirely in color.
In a separately filmed trailer, Vitaphone production reel #3060, Sam Hardy introduces the stars to the audience and talks about the story.
Although credited as "Durant" on screen, Wheeler Oakman is called only "Bob Wallace" or "Robert Wallace" in the movie. Similarly, Otto Hoffman is credited as "Bart" but is only called "Bert" in the movie.
Originally released with the sound track recorded on Vitaphone discs, a sound-on-film version was later released, which required the left side of the image to be cropped off in order to provide space for the optical track, a black and white version of which seems to be all that has survived, and is occasionally shown on Turner Classic Movies.
