Naughty Marietta Facts
Several modern sources, including American Film Institute of Feature Films 1931-40, include Marjorie Main in an uncredited role as a casquette girl, based on erroneous information provided by a former film historian. Marjorie Main does not appear in this film in any way, and the actress in question, properly identified in IMDb, is Margaret Bloodgood.
"Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie onJune 12, 1944 with Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy reprising their film roles.
Robert Z. Leonard was the original director of the movie, but asked to be relieved of the assignment after the first day of shooting.
Although Victor Herbert's songs were used for this movie, the plot is not the same as that of the original musical, due to the censorship restrictions of the Hays Office.
Much to Frank Morgan's annoyance, he was required to shave his mustache, which he hadn't done for 17 years.
