SYNOPSIS
Ford's adaptation of the novel by Sinclair Lewis presents an idealistic young medical researcher (Colman) struggling with his desire to help mankind and the temptation for personal gain. When he travels with a promising new serum to the West Indies, he inadvertently places his wife in danger and must confront his true nature. Screenwriter Howard also adapted Lewis's Dodsworth. Various editions in release; originally released as 110 minutes, restored version is 99 minutes.
