Writer T.E.B. Clarke used to be a policeman.
The first film of Glyn Houston.
The producers obtained the full co-operation from the Metropolitan Police (the first film to do so) and were therefore able to use the real-life Paddington Green Police Station and New Scotland Yard for their location work.
The original Blue Lamp was transferred to the new Paddington Green Police Station and stands there today. It has recently been restored.
Even though George Dixon is killed in this movie he managed to star in the spin off TV series Dixon of Dock Green.
