"Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie onJune 24, 1946 with Jeanne Crain and Dick Haymes reprising their film roles.
A reprise of the song "Isn't It Kind Of Fun?" was sung by Dick Haymes in the movie as his character takes a shower. The number was cut before the film was released, however, the footage still survives intact to this day.
Harry Morgan (billed as "Henry Morgan") appears as a dishonest carnival barker. Morgan, of course, went on to play Colonel Sherman Potter in TV's "M*A*S*H." In the 11th season episode, The Moon Is Blue the staff of the M*A*S*H 4077th unit watches the movie "State Fair".
The part of band singer Emily Edwards originally was slated for Alice Faye, who declined. After nearly 17 years away from movie making at Twentieth Century-Fox, Miss Faye would return to the studio to portray Melissa Frake, the mother, in the less-than-well-received 1962 film version.
The lady who won all the ribbons in the pickles/mincemeat category in the previous year was "Mrs. Edwin C. Metcalfe". Presumably, this was in honor of Edwin C. Metcalfe, saxophonist for Spike Jones' legendary band. His real-life wife Margaret was known as "Tootie".
