Magnificent Obsession (1954) was a Drama - Romance Film directed by Douglas Sirk and produced by Ross Hunter.
SYNOPSIS
This is the second adaptation of novelist Lloyd C. Douglas's (The Robe) best-selling melodrama about a doctor's spiritual redemption when he chooses to abandon his youthful indiscretions to devote his life to restoring the eyesight of a woman he accidentally blinded. After minor roles in programmers and Westerns, Hudson here found his first popular starring role, opposite Wyman (both of whom appeared together again in Sirk's All That Heaven Allows a year later). Glossy and meticulously crafted, Sirk's version of the soaper has built a cult following. Previously filmed with Robert Taylor and Irene Dunne in 1935.
