Funny Girl Overview:

Funny Girl (1968) was a Biographical - Comedy Film directed by William Wyler and produced by Ray Stark.

The film was based on the musical of the same name written by Isobel Lennart performed at the Winter Garden Theatre, NY & Majestic Theatre, NY & Broadway Theatre, NY from Mar 26, 1964 - Jul 1, 1967.

SYNOPSIS

Film debut for Streisand in a reprisal of her Broadway role as Ziegfeld star Fanny Brice in this highly fictionalized musical biopic. Brice, a poor Jewish girl from the Lower East Side, rose to fame and won audiences' hearts everywhere with her comic antics and powerful singing. Unfortunately, she had far less success in her personal life, and the film focuses on her doomed romance with her first husband, gambler Nicky Arnstein.
