Dark Passage Overview:

Dark Passage (1947) was a Film Noir - Thriller/Suspense Film directed by Delmer Daves and produced by Jack L. Warner and Jerry Wald.

SYNOPSIS

Bogart and Bacall headline a wild tale of an escapee from a San Quentin murder sentence who has his face surgically altered to allow him the freedom to find his wife's real killer. Now a man without a past, he meets a sultry stranger willing to put him up until his face heals and they can solve the mystery.

The actual Art Deco apartment building used in the film (located at 1360 Montgomery St in San Francisco) is still standing as of December, 2008. The actual apartment is marked by a cardboard cut-out of Humphrey Bogart, which can be seen from the street. The site is visited frequently by fans of vintage film noir.
The first film in which Humphrey Bogart wore a full hairpiece.
There is an 8x10 photo shown in the film of Humphrey Bogart's character before his face surgery. The actor's face in the photo is of character actor Frank Wilcox.
When Vincent reads the newspaper clipping about Irene's father, the accompanying photograph of her father is that of director/screenwriter Delmer Daves.
Warner Bros. paid $25,000 for the rights to the David Goodis novel, which was serialized in The Saturday Evening Post from 20 July-September 7, 1946.
