SYNOPSIS

Von Sternberg's take on Dostoyevsky with Lorre in the lead. Roderick Raskolnikov believes he can commit the perfect crime and murders an old man. His conscience soon begins to destroy him, however, and the detective in charge of the case is determined to wring a confession out of him.
