Won Broadway's 1964 Tony Award as Best Producer (Dramatic) for Rolf Hochhuth's "The Deputy," for which he also received a Best Director (Dramatic) nomination. The first of his three Tony nominations had come in 1956 as Best Director for "Inherit the Wind."
