Her brother Leo was a scientist for the Eastman Kodak Co. and was the man who invented Kodachrome film.
She was the daughter of noted Polish-American pianist Leopold Godowsky (1870-1938). A brother, also named Leopold, was at one time married to George Gershwin's sister, Frances.
