Vincent Price's first horror film, 13 years before House of Wax typecast him in the genre. He also provided the voice of the Invisble Man in Bud Abbott and Lou Costello Meet Frankenstein.
Part of the original SHOCK THEATER package of 52 Universal titles released to television in 1957, followed a year later with SON OF SHOCK, which added 21 more features.
Shooting lasted from Oct. -Dec. , 1939, released Jan. 15, 1940. Vincent Price made this film right after James Whale's "Green Hell, " which saw release one day before, on Jan. 14.
